Check out a heartwarming commercial from Guinness which portrays dedication through friends playing basketball with an amazing twist in the end. It's not really about sled hockey, but its still about adaptive sports, and its a very nice piece. | |

On a very cold and wintery day, the WSF Sled Rangers travelled to Binghamton to participate in their disabled hockey festival. We played the local kids team and then our kids went out against the local adult team too!
We made new friends and had a great old time. We hope to skate with these guys again soon. On Friday March 9 the Canadian Association of New York hosted its signature event, the Maple Leaf Ball, at the Time Warner Center in New York City. The CANY has been (and continue to be) very generous supporters of the WSF New York Sled Rangers. This year was no exception. With about 300 people in attendance, and Gordon Lightfoot crooning a song, the CANY showed off our program to a roomful of hockey lovers. This is a great event, and I am so proud and humbled to be a part of it. The CANY's other organizations are also very worthy -- Ice Hockey in Harlem, Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research, and Canada's National Ballet School. Thank you especially goes to my good friend Dean Keyworth for his tireless work in putting on this event, and for being our friend.
Gabriel is one of our rising stars in our sled hockey program, and this neat little video from Scholastic News shows how Gabriel is well on his way to becoming a well-rounded athlete in several sports. Go Gabriel!! Our very own Emma Albert was a grand marshal at the 2017 NYC Marathon. We couldn't be more proud of her. My little brother goes to hockey school. My dad likes to watch hockey…. and so does my mom. So, it is a lot of hockey. The first time I tried paraicehockey it was really hard. But a lot of fun at the same time. Everyone was so nice. I had a great time so I wanted to play some more, and then I just continued. My friends often ask me if they can come along, and what it is exactly that I am doing. I usually answer that the best part is to tackle people, which I do a lot. We practice once a week on Saturdays, for like two hours. I wish a lot of people wanted to try paraicehockey, that the sport will grow. My dream is to make the national team and to be really good. #hockeyishockey #shl |
