Breakaway 2020 with Special Guests John "JD" Davidson
Februrary 4th, 2020
Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park
We had a beautiful spring-like evening in Bryant Park on February 4th for our 4th bi-annual Breakaway event. The temperature was 50 degrees, and although the sky threatened rain, it held off nicely.
We had close to 500 people come out to support us, and about 30 of our athletes were present at the event, including alumni Eddie Friedman and Johileny Meran. We raised more than $200,000 to support the program, which was our most successful event ever. This money will not only allow us to continue to buy equipment for new kids, and go to tournaments around the country, but also to do other cool stuff like the Park City ski trip and summer activities as well. Our Special Guest JD Davidson was unfortunately unable to join us due to personal reasons, but our old friend Adam Graves substituted and couldnt have been nicer, shaking hands and taking photos with team members and fans alike. The top video was shown at the event, and was made (again) by our very good friend Joe Quint. This is an outstanding piece of work that really shows what we are doing, and what it means to the kids and their families to be able to play sled hockey. I do believe that this video is Joe's best work to date. The second video is a recap video showing some great shots of the evening. The photos and this video were created by our wonderful photographer Matt Petosa. Thank you Matt. Below, we have a link to the event journal, which was created for the first time by Sarah Sills Despite this being our first time working together, Sarah really got the idea behind what we are doing and it shows through in her creative layouts and artistic style. We are very pleased with how it came out, and we hope you are too. Please take a look if you havent already. We would also like to thank our corporate sponsors, which are also shown below. This year, 2020, we had the most corporate sponsors ever, and I am proud of both the new and the old entities who support us. I am humbled and grateful for all of their generosity. Finally, also thank you to our wonderul MC, Scarlet Fu for coming out and kindly donating her time. It was very special to have Scarlet be a part of this as her son Oliver was our Featured Volunteer (again, take a look in the book) as well as being recognizable to most of our guests from her day job on Bloomberg News. Thank you to everyone who made Breakaway 2020 such a tremendous success. |
