Breakaway 2024 with Special Guest Adam Graves
March 12th, 2024
Wollman Rink in Central Park
We couldn't have scripted the night any better. The weather was a ridiculous 65 degrees for our first ever Breakaway event in Central park.
Four hundred of our closest friends were on hand to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our first Breakaway event in 2014. Alumni Eddie Friedman, Allie Wessell, Sam Greenberg, and Coach Rox were also in attendance. Despite losing half our sponsorships from Covid and other causes, we raised more money than ever for the team this year, and we netted more than $270,000 to support the program, This money will allow us to continue to buy equipment for new kids, and go to tournaments around the country, Our old friend Adam Graves joined us and couldn't have been nicer, shaking hands and taking photos with team members and fans alike. The top video was shown at the event, and was made (again) by our very good friend Joe Quint. I know i said it in 2020, but Joe just keeps better and better at this, and *this* is definitely Joe's best work to date in telling the story of the Sled Rangers, and what this program means to kids and families alike. In addition 3-time gold medal Paralympian Declan Farmer recorded a video to share with our Sled Rangers, which was awfully nice of him. This video is attached to right on the bottom. Below, we have a link to the event journal, which was created again by Sarah Sills. Sarah really got the idea behind what we are doing and it shows through in her creative layouts and artistic style. We are very pleased with how it came out, and we hope you are too. Please take a look if you haven't already. We would also like to thank our corporate sponsors, which are also shown below. We continued our trend of increasing the number of corporate sponsors and this year, 2024, had the most corporate sponsors ever, and I am proud of both the new and the old entities who support us. Special thanks are, of course, due to our very good friends Larry Robbins and Glenview Capital, and Stan Middleman and Freedom Mortgage. Additionally, Citi, Goldman, and J.P. Morgan have been with us every step of the way. I am humbled and grateful for all of their generosity. Finally, also thank you to our wonderful MC, Scarlet Fu for coming out and kindly donating her time. It was very special to have Scarlet be a part of this. Scarlet, and her husband Dennis, and her kids are part of our Sled Ranger family and we cant thank her enough for helping out. Putting together an event like this takes tons of effort, so thanks especially to Claire and Elijah Wong, John Hamre, and most of all, to Jennifer Lemberg. Thank you to everyone who made Breakaway 2020 such a tremendous success. |
